Nalgene – the iconic maker of virtually indestructible water bottles – came to Guru in 2021 after a tough period of pandemic disruptions. The brand was facing distribution hurdles and needed to re-energize both their retailer relationships and their fan base. Nalgene’s goal was clear: refresh the brand’s creative across the board (visuals and messaging) and reignite consumer excitement.

The Nalgene bottle itself is its own best advertisement. We recognized that the classic wide-mouth Nalgene silhouette carries incredible nostalgia and loyalty. In fact, hardcore fans so adore it that some even have Nalgene bottle tattoos. This insight led us to double down on what makes Nalgene special: its timeless design and the emotional connection people have with it.

Guru became an extension of Nalgene’s creative team, infusing fresh energy while honoring the brand’s heritage. We established an annual trend forecasting process. Each year, analyzing trends in fashion, art, and pop culture to inform two new limited-edition bottle print series. These seasonal drops (for example, nature-inspired art like the “Psychedelic Botanicals” collection) keep Nalgene feeling contemporary and fun. We also helped celebrate Nalgene’s 75th anniversary with a special campaign that told the brand’s rich story and introduced commemorative bottle designs, leveraging vintage imagery and stories to reconnect with longtime fans.
